About me

Hello and thanks for taking an interest!

I am married, two dogs and cats, from the midlands in the UK, as far from the sea. as you can get, which is a bugbear as I like the sea! That seems a random comment so I will move on…

Tallisman is not my real name, it’s a pseudonym. I guess that’s no surprise. I have been writing all my life but only publishing in the last few months. I hope you enjoy my works. I write mainly in rhyme and would struggle to do free verse, though I have admiration for those poets out there who can make it work.

Anyway thanks for calling in!

  1. Talisman poetry is a fascinating form of poetry that has its roots in the Middle East and Persian literature. What makes talisman poetry unique is its focus on magical or mystical properties that can protect the writer or the reader from harm. The short and concise verses, written in rhyme, make talisman poetry accessible and easy to read.

  2. Thanks for sharing a little about you, Tallisman. I’m in the UK, too, in Essex. The nearest coastal town is Southend-on-Sea, which is about 20 miles away from where I am. I’ve been there by train with my wheelchair a couple of times. I wrote about my experiences of ‘travelling’ alone as a disabled person in my blog some while back. I booked myself into a hotel for a week and had a wonderful time; I didn’t need company; I was enjoying myself too much to worry about being alone. I’d love to take myself off and do it again, but unfortunately, with the cost of living crisis in the UK (as you’ll know), I couldn’t even afford the train fare, let alone the hotel. Oh, well, I can dream … 🌞

    1. Hi Ellie, sounds like you had an adventure! I miss not living near the sea, it’s strange where life takes us. Maybe one day! Still it’s brave of you to travel alone, but great to see you have retained that sense of adventure. I am going to go back in your blogs, you have been doing this a long time! Your poetry is great to read. Take care!
